Preliminary Understanding of Recycled Polyester Fiber and Its Development Status

As polyester fiber has good physical and chemical properties such as high strength, high rigidity, heat resistance, chemical resistance, electrical insulation, safety and dimensional stability, it is widely used in beverage bottles, fibers, films, film bases and electrical insulation materials and other fields. In the past ten years, the global demand for polyester has increased rapidly, and the polyester production industry has continued to grow. Although polyester does not directly cause harm to the environment, waste polyester materials are chemically inert and are not easily degraded by the atmosphere and microorganisms in a short time, resulting in white pollution. The polyester products can be recycled and reprocessed to obtain a new type of recycled polyester fiber products, which can not only effectively utilize resources, but also protect the environment and reduce white pollution.

1. Preliminary understanding of recycled polyester fibers

At present, the research on the recycling technology of recycled polyester fiber products is mainly divided into two aspects: one is the physical method: the washed waste polyester is sorted and then melted and spun again. The cost of ester fiber is low, the hand feeling of the same denier is not as good as the original one, and the fiber surface has many defects, uneven thickness, poor strength and other physical indicators, so it can only be used as cotton staple fiber or non-woven fiber, and its strength and quality cannot be Stable production of polyester filament yarn and its processed yarn products. The other is a chemical method: the washed waste polyester is alcoholyzed into a macromolecular state and then further purified, and then re-polymerized and crystallized, and the viscosity of the polymer can be adjusted during the production process. The spinning quality is directly used for spinning processing, and this technology can theoretically recycle polyester fiber products infinitely, which is expected to greatly reduce the demand for virgin polyester in the future.

2. Development status of recycled polyester fibers

At present, China is also trying hard, looking forward to developing a circular economy through multiple channels and multiple channels through policy guidance, establishing and improving relevant legal systems, and learning from foreign advanced development experience, and establishing a set of models suitable for its own development characteristics. In addition, the recycling of PET bottles has considerable social and economic benefits. At present, recycled polyester bottle flakes have been widely used in the production of non-woven fabrics and polyester staple fibers, but the proportion of filaments is still small. With the improvement of the regenerated polyester filament spinning process, the regenerated polyester spun filament has a large space for development.

With the continuous growth of polyester consumption and the continuous strengthening of environmental protection awareness, the importance of recycling polyester waste is more and more accepted by people. The use of waste to produce recycled polyester fiber can reduce costs, reduce oil consumption, and improve economy. The benefits are of great significance to the sustainable development of the chemical fiber industry. In recent years, the concept of recycling has become the main theme of the current era. More and more textile and garment enterprises at home and abroad have gradually begun to apply recycled polyester fibers to undertake social welfare missions and improve brand value.
